Local Hiking (WA) - February-October, 2017
Please be patient while the pictures load...
Feb-13 Taylor Mountain Forest - Started up Carey Creek trail from SE 208th St. entrance but aborted when I kept slipping off the slick uphill log across the creek. Not fond of water in my boots
Water break near the top of Elk Ridge Trail
Nice old growth forest trail
Newly downed trees across the trail. Snow remnants in the background. About El. 1300' here. 800' at entrance
At the Elk Ridge and Sherwood trail intersection. Much warmer here in the open sunshine
Mt. Rainier clouded in today. This is the first sunny day since the hike above
Lake Desire viewpoint. Later in the year at lower lake levels the log is a great spot to sit and eat lunch
A new unmarked trail segment in the southend. Just beyond this point is the area boundary and warnings for private residences
Mar-31 revisit to Black Diamond Open Spaces. New one-way bike trails have been added that don't currently appear on the map
Ravensdale Lake view is better before the spring foliage obstructs the view
Pond view from not so effective dam
Enjoying the sun from a newly built trail bench. Yesterday's Seattle P-I said Seattle had only 9 days of sunshine since October. This must be nmuber 10
Apr-21 revisit to Spring Lake - Lake Desire Park. Made it over to the McGarvey East and West trails today (new for me)
Aug-25 Friday Hike with Thomas et al to Franklin Falls. Stop at Denny Creek viewpoint
Denny Creek #2 (South Fork Snoqualmie River)
Verification photo
Coming down rockway path to Franklin Falls
Lots of people here on a beautiful day
Getting closer to absorb the spray
Franklin Falls is nestled between I-90 east and west. Falls are 70 ft high
Big leaves. Should have inserted my foot for contrast
Hiding in the tree
Wagon trail remnants
Thomas pontificating :)
Back to parking area. Added this large area a few years ago
Pretty dry on top late in the summer
New Shady Lake Trail ends in a community park near the lake
Recent trail work. When I was here in March this was a muddy bog. Now onto Spring lake for some kayaking
Lake view along the 'To Ravensdale' spur. Seems little used and overgrown beyond this point
A railroad line runs thru the 'Open Space'. On to kayaking at Lake Number Twelve
Followed main access road down to the river, except the trail to the river is closed due to damage (just beyond the grassy area)
Followed a new spur off Three Bridges Trail over to the only other river access. Water was way too high too wade across to the island
My tax dollars at work. County provided signs
Cedar Grove
