Morning camping at Almeda Park with the turkeys (inset)

A fleet of canoeists launched before we did

Jim and I are ready to go. 11:09am. The original permit holder bailed on us, so I had to do the BLM call-in game to get the openings

Approaching Grave Creek Bridge, the usual launch spot for the May lodge trips

Enjoying the bridge shade from the heat of the day. At 1300 CFS, from Almeda Bar to Grave Creek takes almost an hour and a half (3.8 miles)

Below Grave Creek rapid

Rainie Falls. In the Dory Chute. Jim and I had to wait for the drift boats to clear

Off and running again

At this point, I shipped the oars and went for a clean uneventful flush

First night camp at Wildcat

Next morning. 8:03am. Slow start to the day

Bambis forage in the eddy slime

More bambis

On the water at 12:23pm. This trip was the first use of my new Black Rock 70L cooler with 2 1.6 Gal. frozen Water Bricks

Below Slim Pickins rapid

Below Windy Creek Chute rapid

In the Dulog Creek area. With no water in the creek, the Falls hike was not inviting

Checking out Lower Kelsey camp. I thought it was a suitable camp considering it was already 3:55pm, but we continued a bit further

Making camp on unnamed ledge about 0.3 miles above Missouri Creek, river right. First time camping here

No need to get out of bed early on the layover day

Scouting rock

A short uphill traverse to get the gear from the boats to camp

Morning camp shot

A great feature of a layover day is that you have time for the shower setup

A brief black bear 5:34pm sighting. Mama bear and 2 cubs across the river. They were behind the brush before I could get the camera out

Unknown foliage. Any guesses?

On the water 11:09am

Minutes later, passing Missouri Bar

Great weather, good rapids, and fall colors. Life on the Rogue doesn't get much better...

Not much flow in Mule Creek this time of the year

Below Mule Creek

Into Mule Creek Canyon

Getting tighter

Below The Narrows

Starting to bunch up

Below turbulent Coffeepot

Sometimes pictures get a bit fuzzy when you don't have time to focus :)

Paradise Creek is only a dribble

Passed on using Upper Half Moon Bar campsite since we used it several times before

Was forced to tent it at Lower Tate Creek. High evening winds tore the tarp stakes out of the soft sand, so we took it down. Didn't find the last stake until morning. First time camping here. Thought well into the 'bear zone', rather than lug the coolers up the hill to the bear fence, we decided to leave them locked and on the beach for bear testing. No bear sightings

Almost on the water at 11:02am

Possible future camp below Clay Hill rapid

Clay Hill camp #2

Exiting from the Clay Hill Still after a lot of aerobic exercise. Pretty windy today

The green roof in the distance mark the approach to Brewery Hole where it was real bony this year

Foster Bar ramp at 1:18pm. Now for the fun derig and trip home.
This year we tried the GPS suggested route via NF-3370 which reduced the distance to Agness Pass from 14.8 miles to 6.9 miles

This year's addition to the T-shirt collection. Anyone who has done commercial paddle guiding can relate to it
