Jun-3 Shadow Lake revisit. A standby favorite since it's only 15 minutes from home. 8:57am launch before it gets too warm!

A fisherman on a cataraft zooms by me returning to the access since he caught his limit

Quite serene in the access channel

Mt. Rainier. My paddling caused the ripples that disturbed the reflection

Spotted deer foraging along the west side

Taken just before they bolted into the brush

These fisherman hadn't caught the limit yet, but didn't seem real concerned about it

Lake view looking southwest as I return to the access channel

Hazy Mt. Rainier in the distance

Lots of geese on the narrow end of the lake

Following the geese to the wider end

Jul-21 First trip to Steilacoom Lake. With Keith and Debbie

The Launch2

10:21 departure from Edgewater Park access

Bill paddles to the lake outlet2

Chambers Creek outlet, northern end. The Lake Steilacoom reservoir was created in 1853 when Andrew Byrd built a dam across Chambers Creek, flooding what had previously been a small pond in a wetland

Keith and I bypassed the barrier to get a closer look. Debbie played by the rules

Steilacoom Blvd. runs above the outlet

Bridge separates north and south end of lake

Coming around the point to the bridge gives us the Mt. Rainier view

View from beneath a house on stilts, and a break from the sun

Ponce De Leon Creek inlet

Bill paddles to the inlet2

View from inlet

Heading north, dealing with some headwind and the occasional boat wake

Under the Bridge3

Bill is Cruisin'2

Back to access. 12:35pm. 2 plus hours of constant paddling

Immediately cooler on the water as the sun dips behind the trees
